Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Inorganic Chemistry Summary: By- pass cement Kiln dust (CKD) is a fine {u2013} grained alkaline particulate, similar in appearance to Portland cement, collected in the air {u2013}pollution control devices (such as cyclones, baghouse or electrostatic precipitators) during the production of cement clinker. CKD is composed of: partially calcined or unreacted raw feed, clinker dust, fuel combustion by-products (ash), alkali compounds and halides. Over the past two decades, the number of cement factories in Egypt has increased tremendously reaching (in year 2016) 25 factories spreading along the Nile Valley, Northern Coast and Sinai. These factories produce, nowadays, 67 million tons of cement per year. The concomitant generated CKD reaches about 2.7 million tons (about 0.4% of the total cement production). The great financial loss, in addition to the negative impact of such industrial waste upon the environment and human health deserved intensive efforts to be exerted worldwide to alleviate such inimical effects. Therefore, the goal of the current work is to share the intensive research
