Atherosclerotic disease of the carotid arteries is responsible for a significant portion of ischemic strokes.Stroke pretention without complication is the main goal for successful treatment for carotid stenosis Risk-benefit assessment should be discussed with individual patients and should be based on patient status, plaque characteristics and procedural risk.The rapid advancement in technology and training on CAS resulting in comparable out come between it and CEA with considering that CAS is preferable in high surgical risk patients. The aim of this work is to do Successful complete recanalization of carotid artery stenosis using carotid stenting and follow up results during one year.This study included 30 patients presented to the vascular surgery department at 6 October insurance hospital-Al Dokki with carotid artery stenosis for whom percutaneous transluminal angioplasty was done during the period between august2015 and december2016. The procedure, possible complications, benefits, risks and other alternative interventions were all explained to the patients and an informed consent was obtained. The results showed that carotid stenting is a good tool in reducing carotid stenosis without increased risk for major complications as death/stroke or restenosis
