Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry
This thesis discussed the analysis of two different mixtures presented in two parts. The problems raised upon the analysis of those mixtures were the different chemical properties of the components, their the different spectral profiles which included partial or complete overlap, and the different ratios of the co-formulated drugs in the market formula. The first part introduced the simultaneous analysis of clotrimazole (CLT) and dexamethasone acetate (DA) by several spectrophotometric methods and chemometrics methods via the aid of spectramanager® and matlab® software. And their analysis in laboratory prepared mixtures as well as Mycuten-D® cream. It also introduced two stability indicating chromatographic methods (RP-HPLC and HPTLC) for the determination of CLT and DA in the presence of the two acid induced degradation products 2-chlorophenyl biphenyl methanol and imidazole. A kinetic study for the forced acid degradation of CLT was also made using different molarities of HCl to investigate the degradation parameters; as degradation rate constant, t1/2 and t90%
