Reconstruction of the midface following tumour resection poses a major challenge to the surgeon.The objective of our study was to assess the role of the free flap reconstruction following surgical oncologic ablation.A prospective study of 21 patients with midface tumours requiring immediate or delayed reconstruction, following surgery at the National Cancer Institute,Cairo University, Egypt, between January 2011 and December 2013 was done.A total of 22 flaps were raised for reconstructionin 21patients.Surgical defects included mid face defects with majority of the primary is maxillary tumours.The free flaps play an important role in reconstruction of soft tissue and skin defects of the midface.The wide range of flaps used gives the surgeons new tool and ability of reconstructing different types of defects with a satisfactory outcome
