Two novel Schiff bases of [1-(5-(1-((8-aminonaphthalen-1-yl)imino)ethyl)-2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethanone] (H₂L¹ ) , 1-(2,4-dihydroxy-5-(1-((4-methylthiazol-2-yl)imino)ethyl)phenyl)ethanone (H₂L²), and their complexes with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) were prepared and subjected to many analytical techniques such as elemental analyses, mass spectroscopy, IR, ¹H NMR, magnetic moment, molar conductance and thermal analyses techniques (TG ). The chelates were found to have octahedral geometry except Cr(III)-H2L2 which has distorted square planar geometry. The biological activity (antimicrobial and antibreastic cancer activity) of the ligands and their complexes were also screened
