Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: The main objective of this research is to find the benefits of boosting the conventional SBR system using a moving bed media as it converts the bacterial suspended growth to a hybrid system, which improved the treatment efficiency. This study will show the effect of various carriers filling rate on the performance of a lab-scale reactor in the terms of biodegradable organic and nutrient removal. Another object is to optimize the nitrification denitrification process by controlling various operating conditions within the reactor. The study was carried out in Imyay WWTP, Qalubia {u2013} Egypt
