Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics Summary: Background: Childrenwith chronic liver disease are at high risk for developing malnutrition. Although there are now several available methods to assess malnutrition, a simple and accurate method for evaluating malnutrition in liver disease remains a challenge. Aim of work: The aim of this study is to assess macronutrients and micronutrients intake in Egyptian children with chronic liver disease and correlate them with their anthropometric measures.Methods: We conducted this cross sectional study for the children selected from chronic pediatric patients who are following up in the Pediatric Hepatology Clinic of New Children Hospital, Cairo Universityand a comparable group of their healthy relatives.All patients were subjected to nutritional history taking (Dietary assessment by 24 hour recall and food frequency recall), clinical examination including anthropometric measurements (weight, length, body mass index, triceps skin folds thickness, mid upper arm circumference and length and weight for age according to WHO Z-score)
