Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics Summary: The aim of our study was to investigate the role of oral vitamin D therapy in decreasing the frequency of attacks in FMF patients with colchicine resistance. Our study was conducted on 60 FMF patients associated with colchicine resistance. They were randomly subdivided into 2 groups: thirty patients received regular vitamin D replacement therapy at a dose of 400 IU/day of vitamin D 3 for 6 months, and the other thirty patients didn't. FMF attacks in all patients were evaluated at the time of the study and after 6 months. Also laboratory data in the form of CBC with differential, ESR, CRP and Albumin/ creatinine ratio were done at the time of the study and after 6 months. There was positive correlation between regular oral vitamin D therapy and decreasing number, duration, and severity of attacks as well as decreasing colchicine dosage. Oral vitamin D therapy can be considered as an adjuvant therapy in colchicine resistant FMF children
