Currently there is considerable interest among health care providers to identify accurately patients who might benefit from VTE prophylaxis and to implement prevention strategies for optimal care. Objectives: To describe the full clinical data, management strategies and treatment details for acute VTE and its complications and clinical outcomes in hospitalized patients treated for acute VTE (DVT and PE) in the real world setting. Methods: This was a prospective study which included 101 adult Patients of both genders admitted to the Kasr Elainy hospitals, confirmed to have acute VTE (DVT and PE) by appropriate diagnostic methods in the period between April 2016 and March 2017. Results: The variables found to be significantly associated with VTE were as follows: High body mass index (BMI) with total number of 70 obese patients and 31 non obese. Long recumbency period (Long period of immobility for many hours) is also a significant variable with total number of 69 patients among study group. Statistical analysis shows a significant difference between males and females as number of obese males is 33 patients among total 41 patients with percentage of 80.0%, while obese females are 37 patients among total 60 patients With percentage of 61.7%. Study shows statistical significant high incidence of VTE in patients with history of old VTE with P value <0.001
