Thesis (M.A.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Arts - Department of Spanish
The aim of the thesis is to analyze the intercultural needs to teach and learn Spanish as a foreign language at Cairo University and the Cervantes Institute in Cairo in order to provide appropriate educational proposals to improve the intercultural teaching. The thesis is based on two questionnaires submitted to some of the Spanish teachers and instructors in these institutions, with the aim of analyzing the current situation. On the one hand, we provide a questionnaire for these teachers to determine the current state of their "intercultural" education. We aim to know their educational performance to identify relevant instructional needs, whether strategies, resources or activities to develop and improve the intercultural competence of these students. On the other hand, we provide another questionnaire for these students to learn about the pros and cons of the intercultural teaching they receive so that we can finally make the appropriate proposals in this regard. This shows that we are not only trying to improve the cognitive aspect, but also the particular performance of both teachers and students, so this work aspires, in one way or another, to improve the intercultural competence in its teaching and learning process
