Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Endodontics Summary: This study was to compare the effect of PD and Ca(OH)2 intra-coronal dressing on inter-appointment pain relief for symptomatic posterior teeth with acute pulpitis with periodontitis utilizing: 1-Visual Analogue scale (VAS) at different time intervals ; 2-As well as clinically and radiographically follow up. The trial design of this study is parallel randomized controlled design Randomized controlled trial is study in which people are allocated at random (by chance alone) to receive one of the clinical interventions. Forty four participants in this research were assigned to groups, 22 patients in each group, randomly divided into 2 equal groups: GROUP A: will receive Ca(OH)2 dressing. GROUP B: will receive Pulpotec dressing. As regarding radiographic findings, after 1 month, there was no statistically significant difference between prevalence of periapical radiolucency in the two groups. After 3 months and 6 months, all cases in Group A needed root canal treatment while all cases in Group B showed no radiographic manifestations
