Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Inorganic Chemistry
Five new organometallic Schiff base ligands that derived from condensation of 2-acetylferrocene with 4-nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine (L¹), 1,8-naphthalenediamine (L²), 3,4-diaminopyridine (L³), alanine (HL₄), 4-aminosalicylic acid (H₂L⁵) and their transition metal complexes with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) were synthesized and characterized using many analytical techniques such as elemental analyses, molar conductance, mass spectrometry, IR, ¹H-NMR, SEM and thermal analyses techniques (TG and DTG). The complexes had octahedral geometry. In addition, computational studies of the five prepared Schiff base ligands had been carried out using DFT/B3LYP method. The biological activity (antimicrobial and anticancer activity) of the ligands and their metal complexes were also investigated. Molecular docking was used to determine the probable binding mode between the five ligands and their metal complexes with different active sites of various proteins
