Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Summary: Ameloblastoma is a benign locally invasive epithelial odontogenic neoplasm with high recurrence rate. Furthermore, ameloblastic carcinoma is the malignant variant of ameloblastoma with an aggressive behavior as well as poor prognosis and high recurrence rate. Similarly, keratocystic odontogenic tumor is a benign odontogenic tumor with an aggressive biological behavior, having a tendency towards recurrence and potential for malignant transformation. Being invasive neoplasms urged scientists to carry out a lot of studies on their pathogenesis and invasion mechanisms to be carried. Epithelial mesenchymal transition is one of the invasion mechanisms that was evaluated in ameloblastoma and keratocystic odontogenic tumor. In this study, we evaluated the immunohistochemichal expression of Ezrin antibody in these epithelial odontogenic tumors as it may have a role in epithelial mesenchymal transition as well in their invasiveness. Immunostaining for mouse monoclonal anti-human Ezrin antibody was performed on 15 ameloblastoma, 3 ameloblastic carcinoma and 14 keratocyctic odonogenic tumor blocks archived in the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University, during the period from 2011-2016. Seven cases of ameloblastic carcinoma were collected from the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Department, Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine, Alexandria University. It was carried out using Ventana Bench mark autostainer at Pathology Department, National Cancer Institute, Cairo University
