Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Endodontics Summary: Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Aqua water lift system in maxillary sinus membrane elevation during the closed sinus lifting technique. Materials and Methods: Twelve patients (three males and nine females) ranging in age between 26 and 52 years were included in this study. They were seeking fixed prosthetic restorations for their missing posterior maxillary teeth but they had limited bone height below the floor of the maxillary sinus secondary to sinus pneumatization. Results: There were no signs or symptoms of sinusitis in all cases. No cases showed nasal obstruction or discharge, midfacial pain, trismus, hyperthesia of the face immediately, 3 months or 6 months postoperatively. Conclusion: From the results of the current study we concluded that: the use of the Aqua lift system for elevation of the maxillary sinus membrane through the crestal approach may be a safe and effective technique to prevent membrane perforation during the surgery. It also produced equal bone distribution around the implants with more bone height and width Gain
