Poisoning is a common reason for acute medical hospitalization . WHO estimates that one million accidental poisoning cases occur every year worldwide.The aim : To study the pattern of acute poisoning among patients admitted to poison control centre of AIN SHAMS University Hospitals (2015-2018).Subject& methods: It is a retrospective study included 250 patients admitted to the Poison Control Centre of Ain Shams University Hospitals (PCC) within the period of 2015 to 2018 . 131 females, and 119 males with age range (1-71 years), with acute poisoning were involved to assess the patterns of acute poisoning.The results: The mean age of the studied group was (21.2± 14.5 Ys.) (52%) was female while (48%) was males. urban population was more common (53%).The most common manner of poisoning was accidental (46.4%) followed by suicidal mode (42%) , addictive over dose (11.2%) and finally undetermined causes (0.4%) .The most common toxic substance were pesticides (25.2%) followed by substance of abuse (16.4%) then bronchodilators (7.6%),CO gas (6.4%) and corrosives (6%).Toxicity with pesticides and bronchodilators was higher among females(61.9% & 94.7%respectively) vs. (38.1% & 5.3%) for males, while toxicity with substance of abuse was higher among males (90.2%) vs.(9.8%) for females
