The purpose of the current study was to explore the memory enhancing effects of curcumin (standard antioxidant), trans-cinnamaldehyde (CNM), hesperidin (hesp) and isoliquiritigenin (ISL) against LPS-induced neuroinflammation in mice. Curcumin and CNM were given at a dose of 50 mg/kg i.p. 3 h after a single LPS injection (0.8 mg/kg, i.p.), whereas hesp and ISL were given at a dose of 100 mg/kg and 25 mg/kg respectively and continued daily for 7 days. Our results displayed that curcumin, CNM, hesp, and ISL significantly reversed the LPS-induced impairment of learning and memory, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis. Memory functions and locomotor activity were assessed by Morris water maze, object recognition and open field tests. Curcumin, CNM, hesp, ISL significantly activated Nrf2 factor and restored levels of downstream antioxidant enzymes like SOD and GST in the hippocampus. However, only hesperidin restored the activity of GPx enzyme
