Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Summary: This study was performed on ten adult patients suffering from mandibular body factures with and without any concomitant fractures to investigate the feasibility and accuracy of computer-assisted patient-specific plates for open reduction and internal fixation of mandibular body fractures. Ten patients were selected from the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery department clinic, faculty of oral and dental medicine, Cairo university. All patient were males except one female, ranging age form twenty to fourty years old with mean age of thirty years old. They was suffering from mandibular body fracture. Etiological factor ranged from violence to road and traffic accidents to falls. Each patient was carefully examined both clinically and radio graphically and diagnosis were established accordingly. Preoperative CT was made, all images were acquired in a digital DICOM format, the CT images in a DICOM format were imported into the 2Mimics innovation suite 15.03 1 software and the segmentation process was carried out and specific patient plate was designed on the virtually reduced mandible. Milling of plate design on titanium block by CAD/CAM system. The plate then will be obtained and sterilized prior to surgical procedure. Under general anathesia administered through nasoendotracheal intubation, the fracture was approached intra orally via mandibular vestibular incision. Fragments reduced to pre injury position. Patient specific plate was secured in its planned position using screws in predesigned screw holes in the designed plate
