Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Radio-diagnosis Summary: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most commonly diagnosed disabling condition of the upper extremities. Moreover,it is the most prevalent type of peripheral entrapment neuropathy. Local corticosteroid injection within the carpal tunnel has been widely used for the short-term treatment of CTS. Some studies demonstrate that, infiltration of saline into the carpal tunnel can reduce the resistance to longitudinal sliding of the median nervein the concept of 2hydrodissection3of the median nerve from the overlying flexor retinaculum. The purpose ofthis studyis to assess the short-term efficacy and percentage of improvement, both clinically and radiologically by ultrasound, in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome after performing local steroid injection and hydrodissection
