Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Radio-diagnosis Summary: Anatomic differences predispose children to injuries different from those of adults, the most important of which in the pediatric skeleton is the presence of growth plates and the thick periosteum. Growth plate injuries and physeal injuries can lead to growth disturbances that may be significant.Fractures are among the main results of traumatic injuries and early diagnosis could lead to rapid appropriate management and reducing the complications rate.Ultrasonography is a valuable imaging technique in pediatric population as it is well tolerated by children and readily accessible in both emergency and outpatient settings. It permits dynamic assessment of musculoskeletal system without using ionizing radiation or sedation. Multiple joints/lesions can be assessed in single session as well as comparison of abnormal structure with contralateral side can be done
