Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Physics
In this work, the precipitation behavior of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) inside both borate and silicate glasseswas studied by nanosecond laser irradiation at 1064 nm when silver nitrate (AgNO3) doped glasses by melt annealing technique. Structural, optical and electricalpropertieshave been investigated using X-Ray diffraction, fourier transform Infrared, ultra violet - visible spectra and A.C. conductivity. The absorption spectra show a small band at about 420 nm that was assigned to the presence of characteristic surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak. Appearance of color centers which are produced in the glass after laser irradiation. These investigations were further completed using FTIR and XRD to examine the average size and distribution of nanoparticles within the sample. The grain size of the silver nanoparticles decreased as the concentration of AgNO3 increased. The A. C. conductivity and the electrical properties of the prepared silicate glass samples dopedby AgNPs were also discussed
