Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology Summary: Rationale and background: Estimation of age is one of the important factors that help in identification. In addition, to develop standard MRI based staging system of growth plate maturation and epiphyseal fusion of the knee joint bones and to construct a specific Egyptian equation for age estimation and gender identification. Subjects and methods: Three dimensions for each of the distal femur, the proximal tibia and the patella, as well as, four parameters for each of the distal femoral and the proximal tibial epiphysis of 121 males and 108 females who was gone through magnetic resonance imaging of the knee in Kasr alainy hospitals starting from April 2013 to April 2014 got reviewed in patients aged between 11 and 68 years old
