Rationale and background: Estimation of age is one of the important factors that help in identification. The determination of age and gender has been emerged to the surface after the rise of immigrant and refugees as being needed for employment, marriage, management of property, voting right, competency as witness and testamentary capacity. The aim of the present study: To to determine the role of MRI Knee (lower femur, upper tibia and patella) in the assessment of age and gender in an Egyptian population. In addition, to develop standard MRI based staging system of growth plate maturation and epiphyseal fusion of the knee joint bones and to construct a specific Egyptian equation for age estimation and gender identification. Subjects and methods: Three dimensions for each of the distal femur, the proximal tibia and the patella, as well as, four parameters for each of the distal femoral and the proximal tibial epiphysis of 121 males and 108 females who was gone through magnetic resonance imaging of the knee in Kasr alainy hospitals starting from April 2013 to April 2014 got reviewed in patients aged between 11 and 68 years old
