Possibilities of partial or complete substitution of mineral fertilizer via bio and organic fertilizers were evaluated for improving the characteristics of sesame vegetative growth, seed yield, and oil yield, also contributing to decrease environmental pollution. The experiments were implemented in the two summer seasons of 2015 and 2016 at the Agricultural Experimental and Research Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Egypt. The experimental design was based on a randomized complete block design with three replications and seven treatments. Sesame cv. Shandaweel-3 was tested under the impact of three types of fertilizers viz., mineral i.e., 39.40, 59.70, and 119.40 kg ammonium nitrate: 63.87, 96.78, and 193.55 kg single superphosphate: 33, 50, and 100 kg potassium sulfate kg fed⁻¹, compost rates of green manure source i.e., 1.32, 2, and 4 ton ha⁻¹, also bioformulations consist of biofertile bioformulation and biocontrol bioformulation viz., Azospirillum brasilense, Azotobacter chroococcum, Bacillus spp., Pseudomonas putida., and Enterobacter agglomerans. Results revealed that the treatment of 100 % of compost produced maximum values of number of plants fed-1, biological, seed, and oil yields fed⁻¹; the treatment of 50 % of mineral in interaction with 50 % of compost gave the highest values of dry weight of whole plant, dry weight of shoot, absolute growth rate, unit shoot rate, and number of seeds capsule⁻¹; the treatment of 100 % of bioformulations in combination with 50 % of mineral produced maximum values of total chlorophyll content, plant height, fruiting zone length, number of capsules plant⁻¹, number of seeds plant⁻¹, seed yield plant⁻¹, and seed oil percentage in the first season
