The spread use of non - linear loads such as the Ac / Dc Converter and Static Var Compensator (SVC) results in generating harmonics and injecting them to the power network which causes distortion of the normal sinusoidal current and voltage waveforms in the Ac power system the harmful effects of harmonics on electrical equipments lead the scientists to search the ways of preventing harmonics from propagating in the network , but first we should detect or measure the harmonic content in current and voltage waveforms in the network
