Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Chemistry Summary: Different methods have been introduced in this thesis for the determination of some CNS acting drugs, in bulk and combined dosage forms. These drugs are Zonisamide, Oxcarbazepine, Eslicarbazepine acetate, Carbamazepine, Vortioxetine hydrobromide and Thiocolchicoside. The first part was the chromatographic methods part. It included both HPLC and TLC-densitometric methods. HPLC methods were used for simultaneous determination of Zonisamide, Oxcarbazepine, eslicarbazepine acetate and Carbamazepine in their quaternary mixtures; Vortioxetine hydrobromide in presence of its oxidative product and thiocolchicoside in presence of paracetamol and aceclofenac in their ternary mixtures. TLC-Densitometric methods were used for simultaneous determination of vortioxetine hydrobromide in presence of its oxidative product and thiocolchicoside in presence of paracetamol and aceclofenac in their ternary mixtures. The second part comprised spectrophotometric methods. It included both spectrophotometric and chemometric methods. Spectrophotometric methods were used for determination of Vortioxetine hydrobromide in presence of its oxidative product, the technique used was first derivative spectrophotometry and Thiocolchicoside in presence of paracetamol and aceclofenac in their ternary mixtures, the technique used was zero order spectrophotometry. Chemometric methods included CLS, PLS and PCR techniques that were used for determination of vortioxetine hydrobromide in presence of its oxidative product. Statistical comparison between the obtained results by the proposed methods and reported/official methods was carried out
