Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Maternal and Newborn Health Nursing Summary: Pre-eclampsia is a syndrome of pregnancy defined by the onset of hypertension and proteinuria and accounting for up to 15% of the maternal deaths. In spite of evidence suggesting that women who experience pre-eclampsia are at increased risk for Cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the future and the pre-eclamptic women unaware of the disease and its management. The aim of the current study was of 2 folds to: 1) assess pre-eclamsic women{u2019}s perception toward risk of Cardiovascular disease; 2) develop suggested prevention plan to minimize risk of Cardiovascular disease among pre-eclamptic women{u2019}s. Descriptive exploratory research design was adopted to achieve the aim of the current study. Purposive convenience sample of 112 pre-eclamptic women{u2019}s admitted to post-partum department after deliveries in Nasser Institutes Hospital were recruited based on certain inclusion criteria. Three tools were utilized to collect data1) Structured Interview Questionnaire; 2) Cardiovascular disease knowledge; and 3) Cardiovascular disease risk perception. Findings revealed that, (83.9%) had poor knowledge, and (89.0%) had low risk perception about risk of occurrence cardiovascular disease among pre-eclamptic women{u2019}s. Also, the study findings showed that, there was a highly positive correlation between women{u2019}s knowledge and risk perception score toward CVD. Conclusion: the majority of the pre-eclamptic women had poor knowledge level concerning CVD, and the majority of them had low risk perception level regarding risk of occurrence CVD among pre-eclamptic women{u2019}s. Recommendation: raising awareness about risk of occurrence CVD among pre-eclamptic women{u2019}s and how to minimize the risk
