Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - National Cancer Institute - Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Relief
The results of the current study demonstrated similar effectiveness and safety of flexible fiberoptic intubation and C-MAC videolaryngoscopy in patients undergoing surgery for head and neck cancers with anticipated difficult airway. Both techniques were successful in 100% of cases with clinically insignificant effects regarding the hemodynamic response to intubation. The only observed difference was longer intubation time with the use of flexible fiberoptic intubation. Thus, it is recommended to use either technique depending upon availability and anesthetist experience on one hand and the specific condition of each patient on the other hand
