Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Biochemistry Summary: Ageing is an unavoidable, universal, biological phenomenon affecting all organisms that involves variable declines of individuals motor and memory capabilities. Recently, the search for effective natural compounds with anti-ageing activity has been intensified. We aimed to investigate the potential ameliorating effects of Curcumin C3 Complex, Astragalus Membranaceus and Blueberry on certain age-related biochemical and molecular alterations inrat liver. The study included five groups of rats; group 1, adult control group aged 5 months-old, and groups (2-5) aged 12 months-old. Group 2,aged control group; was kept without any treatment until the age of 17 months. Groups (3-5) receiveddaily by oral gavage for 5 months the following supplements: Curcumin C3 Complex (110mg/kg), Astragalus Membranaceus(100mg/kg) and Blueberry (100mg/kg)respectively.At the end of the experiment, animals were sacrificed and serum Interleukin-6 (IL-6)was determined. Liver was isolated for estimation of malondialdehyde (MDA),8-hydroxy-2{u2032}-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG),total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and nitric oxide (NO), in addition to IL-6 and telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) gene expressions. Hepatic telomere length and lipofuscin contents were also investigated
