Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Operative Dentistry Summary: Aim: This randomized controlled clinical trial was done to evaluate the effect of a desensitizing agent compared to a control glycerin on reduction of post bleaching hypersensitivity and tooth color change after in-office bleaching. Materials and Methods: Thirty six patients were allocated into 4 groups; 9 patients in each group according to the intended intervention as follow: Group I: Relief ®ACP Oral Care Gel applied before in-office bleaching. Group II: Relief ®ACP oral care Gel applied before and after in-office bleaching. Group III: Relief ®ACP Oral Care Gel applied after in-office bleaching. Group IV: (control) glycerin as a placebo before and after in-office bleaching. A visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to assess the hypersensitivity at baseline, immediate, 24 h, 1week and 1 month after in-office bleaching. Also, assessment of the teeth shade was done at baseline, immediately after, 24 h, 1week, 1 month and 6 months after in-office bleaching using classical and bleashedguide 3D master shade guide. After teeth isolation and gingival protection in-office bleaching was done using 30% hydrogen peroxide applied in three 15-minute applications in each clinical session according to manufacturer{u2019}s instructions. Statistical analysis was done using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Shapiro-Wilk tests, Kruskal-Wallis test
