This thesis involves preparation and characterization of PVDF Electrospun nanofibrous membrane and studying its possible utility for water purification compared with the PVDF membrane prepared by the conventional method. The working parameters in both methods were studied to obtain the optimum conditions for the preparation of UF/MF electrospun nanofibrous membrane and its counterpart including: Solution parameters; all the solution parameters including the effect of polymer concentration, Effect of increasing the co-solvent ratios in the solvent binary system, and the effect of adding different ratios of antibacterial additive on the bacterial resistance of the membrane were studied. Operational Parameters; all the operational parameters of both methods were studied. For the phase inversion method; Effect of thickness, Effect of evaporation time and Effect of coagulation path temperature were studied. For the electrospinning method; Effect of flow rate, effect of distance from tip to collector, effect of speed of rotating drum, effect of voltage, and effect of Electrospinning time were studied
