Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Nursing Services Administration Summary: Background: Empowerment is one of the most important strategies for developing organizations and adapting them with external challenges and environmental changes. It is a technique to increase nurses' productivity through increasing their commitment toward healthcare organization and be able to make decisions, develop solutions, initiate creativities, and have responsibility and accountability toward their job. In addition, Nurses' engagement is a key driver for organizational success. It helps to enhance nurses' efficiency of patient care by involving them in the work deeply and makes their work meaningful experiences. Aim: To assess the relationship between nurse's empowerment and their work engagement.Subjects and Methods: A descriptive correlational design was utilized to collect data from a random sample of 400 staff nurses working in inpatient departments at a governmental University hospital , having at least one year of experience . Data was collected by using two tools: Work place empowerment and work engagement questionnaire.Results: There were a high level of nurses empowerment and high level of work engagement.Conclusion: there was a positive relationship between staff nurses' empowerment and their work engagement
