Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy for Surgery Summary: Objective: The aim of this work was to systematically review the studies which assess the effects of High Voltage Stimulation in pressure ulcers healing. Methods: systematically review of all published studies with research design of randomized controlled trial (RCT). A search was made in Medline, Cochrane Library, PEDro, and Google Scholar; from the earliest date to 2017 by using keywords: Pressure ulcers, Wound healing, High voltage stimulation, HVPC, Electric stimulation and High voltage galvanic stimulation. Intervention: Electric Stimulation performed by physical therapists in patient with pressure ulcers. Outcome Measures: Wound surface area (WSA) in cm². Results: Only 5 studies met the inclusion criteria. Meta-Analysis could be done and the current level of evidence to support the effectiveness of high Voltage stimulation in decreasing pressure ulcer surface area is strong. Conclusion: The current level of evidence to support the effectiveness of high voltage stimulation in the reduction of wound surface area and improving the healing of pressure ulcers is good
