Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral Radiology and Diagnosis Summary: The current study was conducted on sixteen plaster models to evaluate the accuracy of CBCT derived digital models in terms of linear measurements compared to direct measurements on dental plaster models for orthodontic space analysis. On each plaster model, 28 anatomical landmarks were identified and direct linear measurements were taken using digital caliper to be considered as the gold standard in the study. The inter-molar, inter-canine and mesio-distal width of teeth were the selected linear measurements owing to their significance in the equations applied to do proper space analysis. As for the digital models, they were obtained by CBCT scanning of the plaster models using planmeca promax 3D mid machine model capture mode. The Digital models were then imported to a third party software (InVivo 5.3.1 dental software) to assess the same linear measurements. The results of the current study showed that: There was very good inter and intra observer agreement regarding all the linear measurements. There was neither statistical significant nor clinical relevant difference regarding the inter-molar width. On the contrary, the mesio-distal teeth width showed statistical significant difference yet, this difference did not translate to clinical relevance
