This study was carried out to investigate the effect of single application of bioactive glass powder applied by air polishing method on dentin hypersensitivity in non-carious cervical regions. This randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted following the consolidated standards of reporting trials (CONSORT) statement (schulz et al. 2010). 50 patients were selected for this study. Patients were divided into two main groups according to treatment received either Sylc air polishing with bioactive glass technology versus fluoride varnish application. Patients were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Regarding the sylc air polishing group, commercially available Sylc® dry powder (calcium sodium phosphosilicate), based on NovaMin was used for polishing and treatment of dentin hypersensitivity. Using Hand piece (NSK Prophymate Neo) to deliver the powder particles on the sensitive areas. Air stream adjusted at 40-46 psi. according to manufactures instructions. The hand piece was held at constant distance (3-4mm) away from the tooth surface, with 60-80 degrees on the buccal surfaces. The powder was applied for 5-10 seconds per tooth in a circular movement. High volume suction with 45 degrees beveled end was used as close as possible to suck any particles. Regarding Fluoride varnish group, Bifluorid 10 (by VOCO) was used. The single dose form was used, to make sure the amount of fluoride varnish used was standardized. teeth were properly cleaned, and the surfaces were air-dried. Thin coat was applied on the tooth surface. The varnish left from 10-20 seconds then air dried. After treatment, all patients received the same post-operative instructions and scheduled for the assigned follow up appointments (1,2,3,4 weeks, 6 months and 12 months). Three stimuli were used to assess dentin hypersensitivity; evaporative, thermal (cold) and tactile
