Considering the overall expenses involved in treating low back dysfunction (LBD) , the condition has broad implicationsIn contrast to the high prevalence and costs , knowledge about the etiology of low back pain remains lowPurpose : The purpose of the study was to assess the lumbar spine by Qualisys three - dimensional motion analysis systems with the goal of establishing a baseline of normal values and use it as standard to compare with lumbar profiles in low back dysfunction during functional activitySubjects : 100 subjects were examined (50 healthy and 50 patients with low back dysfunction) Their age ranged from 30 - 50 years , with mean age of (3946 ± 566) , weight (7878 ± 319) , and height (16304 ± 495) for normal subjectsAnd mean age of (39 , 86± 429) , and weight (8052± 526) and height (163± 428) for low back dysfunction patientsMethod : Intra - rater reliability of the Qualisys motion capture device of 30 subjects was investigatedThe Qualisys motion capture system was used to measure the amount of thoracic , lumbar , hip , knee angles during forward bendingEach subject performed three trials of forward bending that were averaged and used for statistical analysisFunctional rating index (FRI) rating their functional limitation and months since low back pain episodesResults : There is a significance difference in spinal flexibility , lumbar profiles , and hip - lumbar angle p =0000 between normal (1192±177 , 4557±38 , 11771±660) and LBD (790± 104 , 4327±334 , 11436±424There is a high significant correlation between BMI and lumbar angle r = 0766There is a high significant correlation between Spinal flexibility and Functional Rating Index r = 0994Conclusion : Low back dysfunction patients have less mobility than normal subjects in regarding to spinal flexibility , lumbar angle , hip - lumbar angleLBD patients showed high degree of impairment measured by the functional rating index and correlated with the duration of the impact of low back dysfunction
