Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics Summary: Objectivet the aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of parenteral tranexamic acid in reducing blood loss during normal labor and to compare it with the amount of blood loss in patients who received placebo (5 ml of normal saline) in the third stage of labor. Design Prospective randomized case controlled study Setting Om elmasreen general hospital Result Our results showed that, no statistically significant difference between groups according to baseline characteristics, Hb., need for blood transfusion and according to complications. Our results showed that there is statistically decrease mean of study group compared to control group according to total blood loss (mL). Conclusion In this study, Our results showed that, no statistically significant difference between groups according to baseline characteristics, Hb., need for blood transfusion and according to complications. Our results showed that there is statistically decrease mean of study group compared to control group according to total blood loss (mL)
