Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences - Department of Laser Applications in Medical Biological Summary: Background: Laser acupuncture has been suggested to have a promising effect on allergic rhinitis (AR) in children, and widely used as a complementary treatment.Aim: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of laser acupuncture in pediatric allergic rhinitis, versus the medications effect in addition to assess its anti-inflammatory, immune-modulatory effects through measurement of serum inflammatory and pro inflammatory markers (H s -CRP,IL-17).Methods: 60 patients with allergic rhinitis were randomly allocated into two groups group 1, thirty children received laser acupuncture session (2 sessions weekly over 6 weeks), low level laser 904 nm with power of 100 mw was used on a spot area of 1 cm2 for 1 minute at each acupuncture point for AR and the other thirty children included in group 2 received medication for AR in the form of (intranasal steroids, antihistaminic, leukotriene antagonist) and Patient{u2019}s ages ranged from 4 to 18 years. Evaluation in both groups was conducted through estimation of the serum levels of ESR,eosinophil count, Ig E, IL-17 and hs- CRP before and after the study period in addition to clinical and rhinoscopic assessment of patients
