Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Different methods for the determination of some drugs used in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders, in bulk and dosage forms have been developed in this thesis. Cited drugs are atenolol, amlodipine, captopril, chlorthalidone, hydrochlorothiazide, indapamide and nebivolol. The chromatographic part includes the determination of atenolol, hydrochlorothiazide and chlorthalidone in presence of their degradation products, also determination of captopril, hydrochlorothiazide and indapamide in presence of captopril and indapamide degradation products as well as amlodipine, nebivolol and indapamide in the presence of indapamide acidic degradation product, also determination of atenolol, hydrochlorothiazide, chlorthalidone and indapamide in presence of hydrochlorothiazide, chlorthalidone and indapamide degradation products. Chemometric assisted spectrophotometric technique part includes the simultaneous determination of nebivolol and hydrochlorothiazide in presence of hydrochlorothiazide degradation product, also captopril and hydrochlorothiazide in presence of their degradation products and amlodipine and hydrochlorothiazide in presence of hydrochlorothiazide degradation product using PCR and PLS chemometric techniques. Statistical comparison between the results obtained by the proposed methods and the reference methods was carried out. Degradation products of indapamide, captopril, atenolol and chlorothalidone were prepared
