Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Orthopaedics Summary: Background:The aim of the study is to compare the results of treating crescent pelvic fractures with combined anterior and posterior fixation versus only posterior fixation of the pelvic ring. Methods:A total of fifty four patients with crescent fractures treated surgically between June 2016 and September 2018 were included into the study. Patient demographics, mechanism of injury, preoperative time,associated injuries,type of fracture according to Young and Burgess and Day classification were recorded.Results:There was statistically significant difference between both groups regarding the functional outcome (using Majeed score10) which was superior in the group with combined anterior and posterior fixationand no statistically significant differencefound between both groups regarding the quality of reduction (using Matta score¹¹).Conclusion:The first choice of treatment of crescent fractures is combined anterior and posterior fixation of the pelvic ring
