Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: The present research aims to produce environmentally friendly concrete without using ordinary Portland cement using ground granulated blast furnace slag produced locally in Egypt. In this thesis we examined the production of geopolymer concrete including material preparation, mixing, placing, compaction, and curing, the short-term properties of GGBSbased geopolymer concrete and the flexural behavior of GGBS-based geopolymer reinforced concrete beams. This study was designed to investigate the use of two compressive strength grades in each type for geopolymer and conventional concrete (fresh and hardened). Comparisons of test results were made between GPC and CC concrete mixtures
