Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Summary: The current study was conducted on 10 maxillary sinuses, The purpose of the present study is to examine the feasibility of using long titanium screws only versus the use of titanium mesh and short screws to preserve the space below the uplifted maxillary sinus membrane allowing for stable blood clot formation during graftless sinus lifting procedure through the lateral window approach in severly atrophied posterior maxillary ridge. The patients were clinically and radiographically evaluated, The clinical evaluation included assessment of complications during surgery and postoperative healing. Radiographic evaluation involved CT radiographs taken for every patient immediate and 6 months postoperatively to evaluate the changes in bone. While histomorphometric evaluation involved transcortical bone biopsies taken after 6 months during the second stage surgery for implant placement
