Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medivine - Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Summary: The aim of the current study was to evaluate the ability of the (k) shaped titanium miniplate to provide a stable postoperative result in angle fracture fixation. Thirty-eight patients with a mandibular angle fracture were selected. Then, patients were divided randomly into two groups. Group I was treated with Kplate, Group II was treated with conventional two miniplates. Clinical evaluation included patient satisfaction, occlusion, edema, nerve affection, wound dehiscence& mouth opening, and radiographic parameter stability of fixation & measurements of bone density were evaluated. All parameters were evaluated at one week,1 month and 3 months intervals. Results showed a significant difference in the bone density, edema, mouth opening and patient satisfaction. However, there was no significant difference found between the tested groups in the parameters of occlusion, nerve affection, wound dehiscence, inter-mental difference, inter-ramus distance. So, we concluded that both methods offered high performance in management of mandibular angle fractures. However, K-plate method had better clinical outcomes at all time intervals concerning patient satisfaction, return to pre traumatic mouth opening and edema. In addition, it is time-saving method regarding the operating time
