Newly screen-printed electrode (SPE) based on Alizarin Red S (ARS) was suggested to determine silver (I) ion. Effect of ionophore content was studied which showed that 30.0 mg of ARS was the optimal composition. The reaction between Ag (I) ions and ARS ionophore at the electrode surface was studied through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and IR spectra measurement. The proposed sensor showed potentiometric response with monovalent Nernestian slope 59.69 mVdecade-1 over concentration range from 5.0 {u00D7}10⁻⁷ to1.0 {u00D7}10⁻² mol L-1 with lower detection limit 5.0 {u00D7} 10⁻⁷ mol L⁻¹ and can be used for 112 day without any significant drift in potential exhibited a fast response time (7 s). The proposed sensor exhibited constant potentiometric response in pH range 4.0-8.0 and also thermally stable until temperature 50 {u0366} C. It displays good selectivity toward silver (I) ions with regard to most common transition metal ions. The proposed sensor was applied for determination of silver (I) ion in x-ray photographic film and it can be used as indicator electrode in precipitation titrations. The method was validated according to IUPAC recommendation parameters
