Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences - Department of Political Sciences Summary: The study has dealt with the position of the French parties towards the issue of migration, as it has used the French Socialist Party as a case study in the period 2012 to 2017. It has used the tool of political discourse analysis. The first chapter deals with the development of the French political system and the attitudes of the French parties towards immigration, the second chapter deals with the context of the French Socialist Party speech during the study period, while the third chapter deals with an analysis of six speeches of the French Socialist Party.The study has been concluded with a set of results, including: the existence of a change in the discourse of the French Socialist Party during the period under study, as the discourse shifted from a focus on integration to a focus on restricting the immigration, the presence of characteristics of this change among them is the gradualness of the change over the course of the study period, the change of the discourse was clearly affected by the rise the extreme right and the identity-based political discourse, and that this discourse failed to attract right-wing groups towards the party, and even it led to the loss of part of its electoral bloc
