Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Urology Summary: Objective: the objective of this study was to compare the relative efficacy of Tadalafil and Silodosin as medical expulsive therapy for distal ureteric stones. Patients and methods: this was prospective study performed between April and October 2020. A total number of 110 adult patients ({u2265}18 years of age) presenting with distal ureteric stones sized 5-10 mm were randomised to Tadalafil 5 mg once daily (Group A) or Silodosin 8 mg once daily (Group B).Therapy was given for 14 days. Stone expulsion rate was the primary endpoint. Stone expulsion time, number of pain episodes and endoscopic treatment were noted. Statistical analyses were done using Kolmogorov Smirnov test, student test and Chi-square test. Results: A total number of 55 patients were included Tadalafil group and 55 patients in Silodosin group. A statistically insignificant difference was found for stone expulsion rate between both groups as a whole (Group A 63.6%,Group B 56.4%, P = 0.553). Subgroups analysis were also considered for stones sized 5-7 mm where (Group A 62.8%, Group B 80.6%, P = 0.111). No statistical significant difference was found regarding stone expulsion time and number of pain attacks where p value was 0.804, 898 respectively. Conclusion: this study showed that although Tadalafil is more effective for stone expulsion rate, but this difference was not significant (P = 0.553)
