Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Agriculture- Department of Vegetable
This study was carried out in the greenhouse with anti- aphid nylon screen (9 X 40, 3.2 m height) at the Faculty of Agriculture Farm, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt throughout two growing seasons; during both autumn seasons of 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 to investigate the effect of foliar spray with some commercial stimulants and various farming systems (Aeroponic box farming system, Bucket and Column culture farming systems(, the plants were grown in plastic pots and columns in plastic gallons, with a growing medium a mixture of peat moss and perlite (1:1v/v) used for hydroponic systems compared with soil conventional farming system to study their effect on the vegetative growth, chemical composition and yield characteristics as well as tubers quality of potato cv. Spunta. The treatments were arranged as a factorial experiment in randomized complete blocks designed with three replicates. The factors were three commercial stimulants (Beet, Calfruit and CTA Stymulant-4) compared with foliar spray water on control treatment and different soilless production. Using foliar spray with the commercial stimulants on plant grown in various farming systems increased vegetative growth, chemical composition yield characteristics and tuber quality. Data indicated that the highest level of vegetative growth, chemical composition and tuber quality as well as total produced tuber yield/plant was detected when using soil conventional farming system
