Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmaceutics Summary: Cellulite is a very common metabolic disorder that has gained huge interest in our current era. People have become keen on their external appearance more than ever, thus, cellulite became one of the most aesthetically unacceptable cosmetic defect that people try to tackle. Cellulite is characterized by skin dimpling and nodularity resulting in an {u2018}orange peel{u2019} appearance, also called {u2018}cottage cheese{u2019} or {u2018}mattress{u2019} appearance. Approximately 85% of women over the age of 20 have some degree of cellulite occurring mainly at post puberty on the pelvic region, lower limbs, and abdomen. Cellulite high prevalence in female is governed by hormonal influence and the micro-architectural differences in the subcutaneous connective tissue between female and male.Changes in blood microcirculation and lymphatic disorders contribute to the manifestation of cellulite. Thus it should be noted that cellulite is different from obesity, at which, the latter involves only adipocyte hypertrophy and hyperplasia and is unlimited to specific body parts. The use of nanocosmeceuticals in tackling cellulite has emerged profoundly in the past decade. This drug delivery system revealed an advantageous strategy for drugs by increasing their permeability, solubility, and pharmacological activity. However, research done in the field of cellulite reduction is very limited despite the enormous number of researches done in other indications including psoriasis and acne
