Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Pathology Summary: PAX5 is a monoclonal antibody to a nuclear antigen which is expressed in B lymphocytes, the developing CNS, and adult testis, and can be used on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. PAX5 was used in this study to assess the expression of PAX5 gene in 60 cases of lymphoid neoplasms. This study showed that 100% of B cell lymphoma and 90% of classical Hodgkin lymphoma included in this study express PAX5. Thus we concluded that PAX5 can be used as a pan B cell marker and to confirm the B cell origin of most classical Hodgkin lymphoma
