Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry Summary: Drugs used with chemotherapy to relieve their emetic action comprise different pharmacological categories such as serotonin receptor antagonists, neurokinin antagonists, and corticosteroids. This thesis is concerned with the analysis of the following drugs: Palonosetron HCl (5-HT3 receptor antagonist), granisetron HCl (5-HT3 receptor antagonist), aprepitant ( NK1 receptor antagonist) and deflazacort (glucocorticoid by-product). In this work, stability study was carried out on palonosetron HCl. These methods include spectrophotometric, chromatographic and potentiometric ones. Chromatographic techniques (HPTLC & HPLC) were applied for the simultaneous quantitative determination of co-administrated granisetron HCl, aprepitant and deflazacort. There was no any method reported for their quantitative determination simultaneously. The aim of the present work is the development of simple, sensitive, selective and validated analytical methods for the estimation of palonosetron HCl in presence of its oxidative degradation products in addition to its determination in its laboratory prepared mixtures and pharmaceutical dosage form and the simultaneous determination of co-administrated granisetron HCl, aprepitant and deflazacort and their application in their pharmaceutical dosage forms and spiked plasma
