Infection is a major problem for patient safety. Health care {u2013} associated infection can lead to serious illness, prolonged hospital stays, long term disability and patient deaths. Aim of study: appraising nurse's practice regarding application standard of infection control precaution in maternal and child health centers in Upper Egypt at El-Minia governorate. Research design: Exploratory design was utilized in this study. Sample: convenience sample was used in the current study and 109 nurses were selected in the current study. Setting: Four Maternal and Child Health Centers selected randomly from total 8 centers in El-Minia governorate, The selected centers were El-mina, Abou korkas , Mallawy and Dermawas . Tool of data collection: Two tools were used in the study (a) : Nurses structured interviewing questionnaire schedule included personal data for selected nurses (b) the second tool: nurses practice precaution Observational check list . Results: the current study revealed that 63.6% of the studied sample aged from 20 to 30 years with a mean age 29.18 ± 6.620. 48.6% of the studied sample had diploma degree. 66.1 % of the accepted nurses attended infection control training program while 49.4 % of the studied sample had low compliance with hand washing while 49.5 % of the studied sample had high compliance level with wearing gloves however 85.3 % of the studied sample had low compliance level regarding infection control precautions
