Background: Pediatric Septic arthritis is an acute urgent condition that can cause joint destruction, physeal damage and osteonecrosis, which warrants urgent diagnosis and proper treatment to prevent such complications . Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of using post operative intra articular drains and not using them after surgical drainage of pediatric septic arthritis of the hip and knee joints Patients and methods: This study included 2 groups of patients ; each group consisted of 10 children between 0 and 5 years of age {u2022} The first group included ten patients in which post operative intra articular drain was applied after drainage and debridement surgery {u2022} The second group included ten patients in which wound closure was done without post operative intra articular drain {u2022} The patients were collected over during 2018 and 2019 at abo el reesh hospital Results: {u2022} CRP values comparison at admission and at follow up visits was not statistically significant between both groups {u2022} Painless ROM comparison between the two group at various follow up visits was not statistically significant between both groups {u2022} The most causative organism was staph A. {u2022} Non of the cases showed recurrence of infection
